Beyond the Arc: Essential PPE and Workshop Safety
For our industrial and fabrication partners using Pegasus Inverters and industrial gases, safety is a technical requirement. Protecting yourself from heat, light, and fumes is non-negotiable:
-
Eye Protection: Use a high-quality auto-darkening welding helmet. Ensure the shade level is appropriate for the amperage you are using to prevent “arc eye” or permanent retinal damage.
-
Skin Protection: Welding sparks can reach incredible temperatures. Always wear heat-resistant leather gloves and chrome-leather aprons. Avoid synthetic fabrics like polyester, which can melt onto your skin.
-
Fume Management: Industrial welding produces ozone and metal fumes. Ensure your workshop has an extraction system or work in a well-ventilated area to avoid respiratory issues.
-
Cylinder Security: Industrial cylinders (Oxygen, Acetylene, Argon) should always be chained to a wall or secured in a trolley. A falling high-pressure cylinder can become a dangerous projectile if the valve is sheared off.
